STEP
Step (z angličtiny) je druh tanca, ktorý tancujú sóloví tanečníci väčšinou iba nohami, ostatná časť tela len vyvažuje, a prevádzania tanca sa nezúčastňuje. Chodidlá nôh vyklepkávajú pätami a špičkami rýchly rytmus. K tomuto účelu sa nosí špeciálna obuv na ktorej sú upevnené kovové dostičky. Stepuje na hudbu alebo bez hudby.
Formy stepu
I keď je u nás známi tento tanec pod pojmom step, v angličtine sa používa väčšinou výraz tap dance. Existujú aj daľšie názvy, napríklad Clogging, čo je iná varianta tanca a to tzv. americký step. Okrem neho je známy aj írsky step.
Step vznikal skôr než jazz. Džezová hudba tak vznikla od stepu. Táto hudba je najvhodnejšou pre stepovanie.
